History of the Academy
The Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE) was incorporated in September 1997 as a private company limited by guarantee. A non-profit honour society drawn from among senior, eminent and distinguished Nigerian Engineers resident in Nigeria and abroad. The Academy was established to uphold excellence and advance the technological growth of Nigeria, whether in he academic, public, or private sector of the nation.

Membership
Membership shall be open to Nigerian citizens. A limited number of memberships may from time to time to be conferred on distinguished non-Nigerians. Members who are Nigerian citizens shall be designated FELLOWS. Members who are not Nigerian citizens shall be designated FOREIGN FELLOWS.
